Health Care and Health Insurance

I'm watching this protest regarding "health care" on TV and it's crazy. I put health care in quotes above because they are using it as a generic term. They are shouting, "Health care is a right." Health care is not a right but let's say for a moment that it is. Health insurance still wouldn't be a right even if health care were. It's something you purchase if you want it like groceries or clothes. We have the freedom to have groceries and clothes but we have to buy them. If you want to think of "rights" in this manner then that's okay but they are still not legal rights. What exactly are our rights?

We have the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. We have the right to freedom of religion, speech, press, assembly, and petition. We have the right to keep and bear arms. We have the right to not let soldiers use our homes as quarters without our permission. We have the right of freedom from unreasonable searches and seizures. We have the right to due process of law, freedom from self-incrimination and double jeopardy. We have the right to a speedy and public trial. We have the right to trial by jury. We have the right to freedom from excessive bail, cruel and unusual punishments.

We do not have the right to health care or health insurance. We have the freedom to obtain them but not have them given to us for free. Freedom is a right but the health care and health insurance are privileges.

For decades the KKK harassed the GOP with lynchings and threats. An estimated 3,446 blacks and 1,297 whites died at the end of KKK ropes from 1882 to 1964. Republicans often led the efforts to pass federal anti-lynching laws and their platforms consistently called for a ban on lynching. Democrats successfully blocked those bills and their platforms never did condemn lynchings. Further, the first grand wizard of the KKK was honored at the 1868 Democratic National Convention, no Democrats voted for the 14th Amendment to g...
